The best sunsets of Mallorca

Renting a car in Mallorca with VIMA Rent a Car is an excellent option for exploring the island and discovering the best places to watch the sunset. Some of the island’s most recognized places for this activity are:

MIRADOR DE SA FORADADA

If there is one traditional place where both locals and visitors come to enjoy the sunset in Mallorca, it is the Sa Foradada viewpoint, located in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana, between the S’Estaca cove and the Deià cove. It is a place of great beauty that has served as inspiration for many artists, as the colours of the so-called golden hour look particularly spectacular from here.

The viewpoint is a rocky outcrop with a hole that affords magnificent panoramic views of the island. It is this hole that gives the viewpoint its name (“foradada” meaning “hole”).

As it is such a popular spot, many people come every day to watch the sunset from there, especially on Sundays. It is therefore advisable to arrive well in advance to get a good spot at the viewpoint. The good thing about this place is that, as well as being able to enjoy the sunset in Mallorca from the Sa Foradada viewpoint, you can choose to walk along the path that leads to the coast, from where you can also enjoy excellent views.

Another option is to go to one of the terraces at the viewpoint and enjoy the spectacle from there, with good background music and a cool drink in your hand. The Miradors de Na Foradada Restaurant is one of the establishments with the best views.

FARO DE FORMANTOR

Located on the peninsula of the same name, the Faro de Formentor is a lighthouse surrounded by art and wild nature. The setting in which it is located is truly marvellous and makes it one of the most beautiful lighthouses in Mallorca.

The best way to enjoy all the nooks and crannies of the Formentor peninsula is to hire a car. Although access to the Faro de Formentor by car is closed from 10 am to 7 pm during the summer season, you will be able to get there before or after these hours to see the sunrise or sunset. During these hours you can park your vehicle in Puerto de Pollença and reach the lighthouse by bus (L-333) or (L-334).

To welcome or bid farewell to the day at the lighthouse of Formentor is a plan that we highly recommend if you are visiting the island of Mallorca. The truth is that, in recent years, watching the sunset from Formentor has become a much-desired activity for most of the travellers who come to Mallorca. We advise you to go to the place in advance.

CAP SALINES

The lighthouse was inaugurated on 31 August 1863 and is located at the southernmost point of the island. In 1982 it was the first lighthouse in Spain to be powered by solar panels.

Ses Salines allows you to park very close by and enjoy the sunset between dips and toasts. However, on this occasion you will have to be self-service, as it is an unspoilt area with no beach bars nearby.

We recommend you reach the area by car as you can park for free and comfortably without having to walk for more than 10 minutes.
